Lit Circle Roles

1. Group Leader

a. Lead discussions.

b. Score group members on their participation in group discussions and online.

i. 3 points each day for group discussions.

c. Work with group members on their assigned role and activity.

d. Prepare the chapter booklet, which a compilation of everyone’s work:

i. Include all members’ work.

ii. Creatively prepare a cover: title, chapter, author, group member names; WordArt may be used for the cover!

2. Vocabulary

a. Find 5 challenging words from the chapter.

b. Ask the group their thoughts and choose the top 3 words for your activity.

i. Write the sentence from the chapter that uses the word.

ii. Define the word, including part-of-speech.

iii. Explain in your own words what the word means as it pertains to the chapter.

iv. Include a picture that reflects the meaning of the word.

c. Teach the group the new words using PowerPoint or a creative game.

3. Character

a. Choose one of the characters or historical names to analyze.

b. Create an iWeb:

i. Title

ii. 1 paragraph analyzing the character

iii. 1 supporting quote

iv. 1 picture or symbol to represent the character

v. 2 external links that pertain to the chapter or character

4. Questions

a. Two discussion questions will be given for each chapter.

b. Record group members’ thoughts.

c. Prepare a paragraph for each discussion question.

d. Present this to your group.

5. Illustrate

a. Work with your group to choose an important scene from the chapter to illustrate.

i. You may do a comic strip using Comic Life.

ii. Or, you may draw the scene.
